MSC Loreto calls at Karachi Port as one of the world's largest container ships

Karachi Port has welcomed MSC Loreto, one of the world’s largest container ships, in a milestone call that highlights the port’s ability to handle the latest generation of ultra-large container vessels.

According to the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the vessel berthed at the South Asia Pakistan Terminals (SAPTL). The port said the call reflects its continued investment in infrastructure and operational capabilities to support larger containerships.

MSC Loreto measures 399.9 metres in length and has a carrying capacity of 24,346 TEUs. The vessel discharged 3,802 TEUs during its call at Karachi.

KPT said the successful call demonstrates the port’s capability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels and reinforces Pakistan’s position in global maritime trade.

According to the port authority, MSC Loreto sails under the Liberian flag, has a gross tonnage of 236,184 GT, and a draft of 14.2 metres.

The arrival of the vessel highlights the growing role of Karachi Port as shipping lines continue deploying larger containerships on major international trade routes.
