Movianto, part of Yusen Logistics, has nearly doubled storage capacity at its healthcare logistics facility in Aalst, Belgium.
The expansion increases temperature-controlled pallet capacity from 14,000 to 25,000 positions to meet growing demand for pharmaceutical and healthcare logistics services.
The site now provides storage across ambient (15–25°C), refrigerated (2–8°C), frozen (–20°C) and ultra-cold (–80°C) temperature ranges.
Movianto has also added dedicated areas for hazardous goods and narcotics, while expanding services for clinical trial logistics and GMP-licensed activities, including secondary packaging and country-specific adaptations.
The facility complies with EU Good Distribution Practice (GDP), ISO and TAPA standards. It also operates as a bonded warehouse, allowing duty-free storage for goods in transit and supporting customs clearance for EU imports and exports.
Bruno Jacques, Deputy Managing Director of Yusen Logistics (Europe) and CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare, said demand for specialized healthcare logistics continues to grow.
“Customers increasingly prefer integrated supply chain models that combine warehousing with international freight forwarding by rail, air and ocean.”
The expansion will increase the Aalst workforce from around 100 to 150 employees.
Movianto has also invested in sustainability. A rooftop solar system will supply around 50% of the site’s electricity demand. The facility also features heat pumps, CO₂-based refrigeration, LED lighting, motion sensors and rainwater harvesting.
The expansion supports Yusen Logistics’ strategy to strengthen its global healthcare logistics network.
