Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has signed new agreements to expand the supply of bio-LNG fuel for its LNG-powered car carriers operating in Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.

Under the agreements, Titan will continue supplying bio-LNG in Northwest Europe, while Axpo will provide the fuel in the Mediterranean, including the Spanish ports of Malaga and Barcelona.

The agreements extend MOL’s bio-LNG bunkering network beyond Northwest Europe, where the company began using the renewable fuel in 2025, creating a stable supply framework across two key European regions.

Bio-LNG is produced primarily from biomass such as livestock manure and food waste and can significantly reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions while utilizing existing LNG bunkering infrastructure. According to MOL, the fuel supplied under the new agreements has a lifecycle carbon intensity of -15 g-COâ‚‚/MJ or lower and is certified under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC-EU) scheme.

The company said the expanded supply network supports its strategy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while increasing the use of alternative marine fuels. Alongside its growing LNG-fueled fleet, MOL plans to continue promoting the adoption of biofuels, methanol, ammonia and hydrogen as part of its long-term decarbonization strategy.
