Mawani achieves container increase in August

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) announced that its ports achieved an increase in the number of handling containers during August by 4.79% year-on-year, moving 721,629 TEUs.

In particular, the number of export containers witnessed an increase of 5.98% to reach 218,051 TEUs, while import boxes increased by 1.91% to 226,738 TEUs. At the same time, transshipment containers recorded an increase of 6.29%, reaching 276,840 TEUs.

According to Mawani, this reflects the success of its efforts in improving the competitiveness of services provided to beneficiaries, in addition to developing infrastructure.

Mawani’s ports, on the other side, recorded a decrease of 17.20% in the total tons handled, reaching 24,118,698 tons of goods, compared to 29,128,327 in the corresponding period of 2022, the volumes of general cargo reached 609,007 tons, solid bulk cargo reached 3,865,565 tons, and liquid bulk cargo reached 11,689,841 tons.
