Maersk has announced revised Intermodal Fuel Fee (EFS/IFS) levels for several European markets, citing continued pressure from higher global energy prices and the impact of security developments in the Middle East on fuel availability.
The updated surcharges will apply from 6 July to 20 July 2026 and will continue to be reviewed every two weeks as market conditions evolve.
For the Benelux region (Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg), the fuel fee has been set at 7% for truck transport and barge & BCO services, while RCO will be charged at 3.5%.
In the DACH region (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), the surcharge will be 4% for truck transport and barge & BCO services, with RCO set at 2%.
For Poland, Maersk will apply a 4% surcharge for truck transport and 2% for RCO services.
The carrier said the percentages will be applied to the IHI/IHE charges and are intended to reflect higher inland transportation costs while helping maintain service continuity and vendor capacity. Maersk added that the fuel fee, introduced on 16 March 2026, will remain subject to regular review given the ongoing volatility in global energy markets.
