Maersk has temporarily suspended its Durban Cato Ridge Drop-Off Fee amid congestion and supply chain disruptions across the local depot network.
The suspension took effect on 11 September 2026 and will remain in place until further notice.
Drop-off rates reduced to zero
Maersk said increased depot utilisation and reduced storage capacity prompted the decision. The temporary measure aims to provide greater operational flexibility under the current conditions.
| Location | Equipment | Previous rate | New rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Durban–Cato Ridge | 20-foot container | ZAR4,200 | ZAR0 |
| Durban–Cato Ridge | 40-foot dry container | ZAR4,500 | ZAR0 |
All other tariff conditions and charges remain unchanged.
For non-spot bookings, Maersk will determine the applicable rate using the Price Calculation Date. For spot bookings, the booking date will serve as the price calculation date.
The carrier said it will continue monitoring conditions in Durban and communicate further changes when available.
