
Maersk will increase its Congestion Fee Destination (CFD) for imports from Far East Asia, the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to Durban.
The revised Maersk Durban congestion fee will apply to all 20-foot and 40-foot containers.

Maersk Durban congestion fee effective dates
The higher rates will take effect on different dates depending on the country of origin:
- Non-regulated countries: 1 November 2026
- Vietnam: 1 November 2026
- South Korea and Taiwan: 8 November 2026
The surcharge applies to import cargo originating from Far East Asian, Indian Subcontinent and Middle Eastern load ports and destined for Durban.
Maersk introduced the congestion fee in September amid operational disruption at the South African port. The original charge was set at US$250 per 20-foot container and US$500 per 40-foot container.
