Maersk will maintain its temporary inland fuel surcharge in Mexico at 2% of inland haulage costs during September 2026.

The surcharge remains unchanged from August and applies to all inland services and transport modes for imports and exports to and from Mexico.

Maersk linked the measure to the situation in the Middle East and the resulting increase in fuel-related costs.

Surcharge reviewed monthly

The carrier will continue to review the surcharge on a monthly basis. Maersk said further adjustments may be necessary as conditions evolve.

For invoicing, the surcharge appears as an Export Fuel Surcharge (EFS) for exports and an Import Fuel Surcharge (IFS) for imports.

The measure is effective from 1 September 2026.

For non-FMC shipments, the price calculation date is based on the estimated departure time of the first vessel in the latest booking confirmation.

For FMC-regulated shipments, the surcharge becomes applicable 30 days after the notification. Separate calculation rules apply to import inland legs booked after cargo departure.
