Maersk introduces peak season surcharge for shipments from Asia to Southern and Eastern Africa

Maersk has announced the implementation of a peak season surcharge for cargo moving from a wide range of Asian origins to destinations in Southern and Eastern Africa, effective August 1, 2025.



The surcharge applies to shipments originating from China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Cambodia, South Korea, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Vietnam, and destined for Mozambique, Madagascar, Seychelles, Botswana, Comoro Islands, Lesotho, Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The PSS will be US$ 500 per 20’ dry container and US$ 1,000 per 40’ dry container.
