Maersk introduces emergency inland fuel surcharge across Nordic and Baltic markets

STI - Skagen Maersk

Maersk will introduce a temporary Emergency Inland Fuel/Energy Surcharge for store-door shipments across selected Nordic and Baltic markets.

The carrier attributed the measure to higher fuel prices linked to supply disruptions in the Middle East.

The surcharge takes effect on 16 September 2026 and applies to eligible store-door shipments with a Price Calculation Date of 9 September 2026 or later.

Country-specific surcharge levels

Country Surcharge
Denmark 14%
Sweden 12%
Norway 0%
Finland 6%
Lithuania 5%
Latvia 17%
Estonia 20%

The surcharge will remain in place until further notice. Maersk plans to review the applicable percentages weekly and adjust them if market conditions change.

Electric truck and rail solutions are not currently affected by the measure.

Maersk noted that the surcharge levels remain subject to change because of volatility in the Middle East and global fuel markets.
