M/MARITIME has announced its entry into the feeder container market through the signing of two newbuilding vessels, marking a strategic expansion of its fleet portfolio.
The company has placed an order for two 2,800 TEU container vessels at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in South Korea, a shipyard widely recognised for high-specification shipbuilding. The move reflects M/MARITIME’s continued focus on quality and technical performance, with the new vessels designed to deliver efficiency, reliability and long-term operational value.
The ships will be built in line with HHI’s eco-efficient CON-GREEN design and will comply with IMO Tier III environmental standards. They will also feature advanced energy-efficiency systems and high reefer capacity, supporting both operational flexibility and commercial competitiveness. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2028.
Alongside its expansion into container shipping, M/MARITIME is also strengthening its core dry bulk operations. The company has secured three long-term time charter agreements for newbuilding vessels at leading Japanese shipyards, including Oshima Shipbuilding, Onomichi Dockyard and Imabari Shipbuilding.
The charters, which range from five to ten years, include purchase options at the end of each term. The vessels are scheduled for delivery between 2029 and 2030.
