Liebherr announced the successful delivery of two state-of-the-art ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes to the Port Newark Container Terminal (PNCT) at the port of New York and New Jersey.
Designed and manufactured at Liebherr’s facility in Ireland, these cranes are tailored to meet the specific operational demands of PNCT, enabling the terminal to efficiently handle the next generation of ultra-large container vessels.
This delivery is part of PNCT’s US$500 million expansion initiative, aimed at increasing capacity at one of the busiest ports on the United States East Coast.
With an impressive outreach of 69 metres and a lift height of 53 metres above the rail, the state-of-the-art STS cranes are specifically designed to accommodate larger vessels and enhance throughput.
“We’ve been delivering cranes to the US for many years, and this ongoing partnership with PNCT speaks to the trust and confidence that customers place in our engineering expertise. Our customizable designs and in-house manufacturing allow us to offer tailored solutions that meet the needs of each terminal. Liebherr has earned a reputation for high-quality engineering and is proud to continue to be a trusted partner to ports in the USA at a time when safety and security are paramount,” stated Declan O’Sullivan, General Manager Sales at Liebherr Container Cranes.
