Inchcape Shipping Services takes over Grieg Logistics

Inchcape Shipping Services, a global leader in port agency and marine services, announced the successful acquisition of Grieg Logistics AS from the Grieg Group.

This strategic move underscores Inchcape’s dedication to providing top-quality operations and exceptional personnel in every port.

Under the new ownership, Grieg Logistics will continue to operate under its existing name for a transitional period, with the current management team led by CEO Stig Trygve Andersen remaining in place.

The acquisition reinforces Inchcape’s commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable service, enhancing its operational capabilities in shipping, raw materials, energy, and governmental services.

Together, Grieg Logistics and Inchcape will focus on creating even better solutions for customers, emphasizing digitalization and customer-centric services.

Grieg Logistics, a renowned brand with a proud heritage, operates terminals in Tønsberg, Mosjøen, and Skålevik, and has offices in Tønsberg, Larvik, Bergen, Mongstad, Kristiansund, and Mosjøen. It offers ship agency services along the Norwegian coastline, primarily with its own staff. The acquisition will strengthen Inchcape’s presence in the Nordics.

“Inchcape Shipping Services and Grieg Logistics complement each other perfectly, and we eagerly anticipate the continued growth of our business areas within Inchcape,” stated Stig Trygve Andersen, CEO of Grieg Logistics.

Inchcape Shipping Services, a portfolio company of the private equity fund Epiris, operates in over 85% of the world’s ports across 60 countries through its network of 247-owned offices. It has become a trusted partner for many of the world’s largest and most respected shipping companies, serving sectors such as Tanker, Cruise, Dry Bulk, Liner, Government, Ship Manager, and Offshore industries.

The acquisition of Grieg Logistics by Inchcape presents a significant opportunity for both companies to enhance the services provided to their customers. Grieg Logistics will benefit from Inchcape’s extensive global customer portfolio, digital transformation capabilities, and adherence to international standards and processes. Conversely, Inchcape will gain from Grieg Logistics’ local expertise and presence, strong customer relationships, and extensive logistics experience.

“Inchcape and Grieg Logistics have enjoyed a long-standing partnership, first formalised in 2019. The partnership facilitated the sharing of technologies and the expansion of port agency support in Norway. We are extremely excited to welcome the Grieg Logistics team into our organisation. We look forward to providing even greater service and coverage to our combined customer base,” commented Inchcape Shipping Services CEO Philippe Maezelle.
