Imabari Shipbuilding has delivered two new bulk carriers from separate shipyards in Japan, expanding its portfolio of environmentally optimized dry bulk vessels.
The company delivered the 63,682 DWT handymax bulk carrier FUJI MARU from Shin Kasado Dockyard and the 181,987 DWT capesize vessel FRONTIER PEACE from Saijo Shipyard on 26 May.
FUJI MARU is designed to transport a wide range of cargoes including grain, coal, ore, cement and steel products.

The vessel features wide cargo hatch openings, folding-type hatch covers and four deck cranes to improve cargo handling efficiency.
Imabari said the ship complies with major environmental regulations, including MARPOL and ballast water management requirements.
The vessel also incorporates energy-saving devices, a high-efficiency propeller and low-friction hull coatings to improve fuel efficiency.
Meanwhile, FRONTIER PEACE was built to carry dry bulk cargoes such as coal and iron ore.

The vessel is designed to accommodate high-density cargo loading and complies with Common Structural Rules for Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers.
Imabari equipped FRONTIER PEACE with exhaust gas recirculation systems, selective catalytic reduction technology and exhaust gas cleaning systems to reduce emissions.
The capesize vessel also includes ballast water treatment systems, energy-saving devices and hull coatings designed to improve propulsion efficiency.
Both vessels exceed current carbon-emission requirements by incorporating technologies aligned with future environmental standards.
