ID Logistics has opened a new 35,000 sqm logistics centre in Germany, bringing its network in the country to 17 facilities. The site, located at Mittelweserpark in Lower Saxony, began operations in September 2026 and focuses on handling heavy and bulky goods.

The opening marks another step in the company’s expansion in Germany. Since 2021, ID Logistics has more than doubled its network, growing from eight to 17 sites. Its German operations now cover 910,000 sqm of logistics space and employ 4,800 people, compared with 2,800 five years ago.

New facility strengthens bulky goods operations

The new centre consists of three buildings and can accommodate up to 7,000 oversized items weighing as much as 180 kg. It handles products such as household appliances, sofas and leisure equipment.

Operations include order preparation, dispatch and cross-docking. According to ID Logistics, orders can be ready for dispatch within two hours of receipt, while cross-docking shipments have a maximum processing time of four hours.

The company has invested in 40 material-handling vehicles, including equipment designed for large and heavy products. Once fully operational, the facility will employ 150 people.

The opening also brings ID Logistics’ total space dedicated to heavy and bulky goods in Germany to more than 100,000 sqm.

Expanding logistics services across Germany

ID Logistics has operated in Germany since 2013. Its services cover warehousing, order preparation, sorting and last-mile delivery, which it introduced in 2024.

The company is also developing its transport operations, including full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL) and distribution services.

The new facility builds on experience from the company’s existing 60,000 sqm centre in Göttingen, which has handled heavy and bulky goods since 2018.

Before the Mittelweserpark site opened, some employees completed a three-week training programme in Göttingen to prepare for the new operations.

The expansion strengthens ID Logistics’ position in the German contract logistics market, particularly in the handling and distribution of large consumer goods.
