Hapag-Lloyd introduces GRI from Asia and Oceania to Latin America

German ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd has announced a General Rate Increase (GRI) from Asia and Oceania to Latin America.

This GRI will apply to cargo transported in 20’ and 40’ dry containers, including high cube equipment and 40’ non-operative reefers.

Hapag-Lloyd’s rate increase will apply from 8 May for all destinations, except Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, where the updated rates will be effective from 24 May.

The details for this increase are listed below:

  • 20′ Dry Container: US$500
  • 40′ Dry Container: US$1,000
  • 40′ High Cube Container: US$1,000
  • 40’ Non-operative Reefer Container: US$1,000

The geographical scope of this GRI is explained below:

  • Asia and Oceania: Brunei, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Micronesia, New Caledonia, New Zealand, French Polynesia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Vanuatu, Wallis and Futuna Island
  • Latin America: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Honduras, Guatemala, Panama, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay.
