Hanseatic Global Terminals completes Brazil terminal joint venture

Hanseatic Global Terminals Aracruz

Hanseatic Global Terminals has completed the acquisition of a 50% stake in the Aracruz container terminal project in Brazil, officially launching its joint venture with the Imetame Group to develop a new greenfield terminal on the country’s east coast.

The transaction received all required regulatory approvals and formalized the creation of Hanseatic Global Terminals Aracruz S.A., previously known as Imetame Logística Porto S.A.

The new terminal, located in Aracruz in Espírito Santo state, is expected to begin operations in mid-2028.

The project is designed to handle next-generation container vessels and strengthen Brazil’s role as both a gateway and transshipment hub on the east coast.

The facility will feature a 17-meter draft, 750 meters of quay length and modern container handling equipment.

Once operational, the terminal is expected to offer annual handling capacity of approximately 1.2 million TEUs.

Hanseatic Global Terminals said the project supports its broader expansion strategy across Latin America and aligns with plans to grow its terminal portfolio to more than 30 facilities by 2030.

The companies did not disclose financial details of the transaction.
