FlexCold opens cold storage facility in Jacksonville

Cold storage warehousing and logistics company FlexCold has announced the opening of its first facility in Jacksonville, Florida, US.

The facility will span more than 14,000m² and will offer 25,000 pallet locations, while it is located 4.8 kilometres from the Port of Jacksonville. “This allows for greater speed combined with reduced transportation costs from location to location,” said Flexcold.

The new facility also offers a 70′ deep refrigerated loading dock area with 27 refrigerated bays and 18 refrigerated bays, both refrigerated and frozen with temperatures ranging from -10 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit, while on-site blast freezing is also available, with capacity for up to 12 loads per day and integrated import/export services.

Specifically, the Jacksonville facility is divided into four main areas, two convertible rooms that can be used for chilled or frozen products, a freezer room where temperatures are maintained below zero degrees, and a freezer room where products such as poultry can be frozen to zero degrees within 36 hours. US Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspections are also provided on-site.

“With a unique, expert-driven perspective on how to maximize efficiencies, supported with our people-centric culture, we can provide customers with unparalleled flexibility to meet their cold storage challenges today, and well into the future,” commented FlexCold president, Craig Turner.
