DHL Express launches Heavy Weight Express Service

Heavyweight Express Forklift

DHL Express has expanded its global express portfolio with the launch of Heavy Weight Express (HWX), a new service for heavyweight international shipments.

The new solution supports shipments up to 1,000 kilograms per piece and 3,000 kilograms per shipment.

DHL said the service combines express delivery speed with full shipment control, proactive monitoring and predictable pricing across more than 220 countries and territories.

The company designed HWX for industries where delivery timing and shipment reliability are critical. Key sectors include technology, automotive, engineering, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, oil and gas, and energy.

John Pearson said the service expands DHL’s role in global supply chains as companies face growing disruption, tighter production cycles and higher financial risks linked to delays.

The service includes dedicated Heavy Weight Priority Desks. These specialized teams provide proactive tracking, exception management and direct customer communication throughout the shipment process.

DHL said each shipment receives dedicated case ownership to improve visibility and operational reliability.

The company also highlighted six main use cases for the new solution:

  • Avoiding production downtime
  • Supporting product launches with fixed timelines
  • Reducing inventory buffers
  • Managing large-scale procurement shipments
  • Handling sensitive or regulated cargo
  • Supporting complex multi-site supply chains.

DHL added that HWX reduces customer dependence on fluctuating airline capacity and minimizes unexpected surcharges by using the company’s own aircraft fleet, hubs, customs operations and last-mile delivery network.
