Crown Prince of Norway visits Port of Hamburg

On 7 and 8 November, Crown Prince of Norway Haakon visited Hamburg. The next day, after a welcome in the town hall addressed by Angela Titzrath, CEO of Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), a tour of the Port of Hamburg was held.

During the visit to the Port of Hamburg, Georg Böttner, Head of HHLA Hydrogen Projects, presented to Crown Prince Haakon the development of containerised hydrogen imports and the employment of clean growth technologies at the German port. Among these is the Clean Port & Logistics Cluster, in which HHLA is collaborating with several partners to test hydrogen-powered heavy-duty equipment in port logistics to accelerate decarbonisation.

“At our container terminals, we are already consistently focusing on electrifying our equipment and facilities to achieve climate-neutral production across the Group by 2040. For example, our highly automated Container Terminal Altenwerder here in Hamburg was once again certified as climate-neutral this year. To drive forward the decarbonization of equipment that could not previously be electrified, we are also working with more than 50 companies from around the world in the Clean Port & Logistics Cluster on hydrogen-powered solutions,” stated Georg Böttner during the tour.
