Container fire at PortMiami erupts in explosion, shaking nearby homes

A dramatic incident unfolded late Friday (29 November) night at PortMiami, when a vehicle erupted in flames inside a shipping container, triggering a powerful explosion that rattled nearby apartment buildings.

Around 11:40 p.m. (local time), Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to reports of a fire at a cargo yard in the area. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle engulfed in flames within a container. According to the CBC News report, the firefighters quickly sprang into action, extinguishing the blaze.

The explosion accompanying the fire sent shockwaves through the vicinity, with nearby residents saying that the force caused their apartments to “shake.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, as authorities work to determine what led to the alarming incident.
