French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced new rates and surcharges for shipments destined for the United States.

Firstly, CMA CGM will apply a peak season surcharge from the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East Gulf, Red Sea and Egypt to the US East Coast and US Gulf. Effective from 1 February, the Marseille-based container line will implement a surcharge of US$1,000 per unit.

Additionally, CMA CGM will introduce a rate restoration initiative, effective from 17 January, from Guyana and Suriname to the United States. The French shipping firm will increase its rates by US$350 per TEU and US$700 per FEU.
