CMA CGM implements new surcharge due to Cape Town port congestion

Considering the current congestion in Cape Town, the capital city of South Africa, CMA CGM has decided to apply a new port congestion surcharge (PCS).

The French carrier said that a surcharge of US$250/TEU will be implemented on dry and reefer containers that will be transported from Mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Singapore, Japan, Timor-Leste, Myanmar, Brunei, Mongolia and Vietnam to the port of Cape Town.

The port congestion surcharge will be effective from 15 July 2023.
