French ocean carrier CMA CGM has announced an update to its reefer operational surcharge for pharma cargo transported in reefer containers.
This surcharge will be effective from 10 August 2024, until further notice. For cargo originating from all locations except North America, a surcharge of US$250 per unit will be applied. Additionally, for cargo originating from North America, another surcharge of US$500 per unit will be implemented.
This surcharge is mandatory for all pharma cargo carried in reefer boxes and includes the following provisions:
- Mandatory full Pre Trip Inspection (PTI)
- Clean, dry, and odour-free container
- Locked keyboard
- Equipment not older than 5 years
- Drains and ventilation closed
- Good Distribution Practice (GDP) qualified equipment
- Access to data after the trip (upon request)
- Risk assessment before booking (including POL/POD and number of transhipment ports)
