Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. announced the delivery of China’s self-developed liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel container vessel on 21 October in Dalian.
Constructed for the world’s largest container line MSC, the ship spans 366 meters in length, 51 meters in width, and has a molded depth of 30.2 meters, with a design draft of 14.5 meters.
It boasts a capacity of carrying 16,044 standard containers along with 1,800 refrigerated boxes, according to the shipbuilder, while the innovative dual-fuel design enables the vessel to operate on both LNG and marine fuel oils.
It features a 13,000-cubic-meter Type-B LNG fuel tank, which offers greater capacity and efficiency than traditional LNG tanks while reducing reliance on conventional fuels.
Furthermore, Dalian Shipbuilding has incorporated several energy-saving technologies and devices to enhance both the economic and environmental performance of the new vessel.
