Broekman Logistics expands heavy-lift capacity with Liebherr LHM 800

Broekman Logistics has strengthened its heavy-lift operations at the Port of Rotterdam with the addition of a Liebherr LHM 800 mobile harbour crane.

Nicknamed “Titan 1,” the crane offers a lifting capacity of up to 308 tonnes. It is designed for heavy-lift, breakbulk and project cargo operations. Liebherr also equipped it with custom support pads to match the quay’s ground conditions.

The investment expands Broekman’s capabilities at its Rotterdam heavy-lift terminal, which provides direct quayside access, indoor heavy-lift halls and project logistics services.

“The LHM 800 gives us the lifting performance and flexibility to handle larger and more complex cargo at our quayside,” said Rob van Dijk, Director Terminal & Shipping at Broekman Logistics. “Combined with our indoor lifting capacity of 700 tonnes by overhead crane, it strengthens our position as a heavy-lift specialist in Rotterdam.”

Broekman said the crane will support growing demand for oversized, out-of-gauge and industrial cargo while improving operational flexibility.

Liebherr engineered the crane to deliver high lifting performance while maintaining low ground pressure. The company developed a tailored load distribution system to meet the specific requirements of the terminal’s quay.

“This project shows what can be achieved when a customer’s operational vision is matched by focused engineering and close cooperation,” said Andreas Ritschel, General Manager Sales Mobile Harbour Cranes at Liebherr-Rostock. “We are proud to deliver a solution that meets the site’s technical requirements while supporting Broekman’s next stage of growth.”
