Port of Melbourne handled 281,000 TEUs in May, representing a 10% increase compared to the same month in 2023.
The Australian port reported that full container imports volumes were up in May 2024 against prior year with furniture, domestic appliances and paperboard all above last year’s volumes. Additionally, full container exports were increased with timber, hay, chaff & fodder, barley and meats all above last year’s volumes. At the same time, total empty container movements were also increased in May.
