The technology systems provider, Navis has announced that C. Steinweg’s Botlek Terminal in Rotterdam has completed the implementation of Master Terminal software.
The Master Terminal operating system by Navis provides a real-time view of all operations and data at any marine or inland terminal, in order to digitise processes, reduce manual inputs, and enhance productivity and operational efficiency while helps manage general and mixed cargo with intermodal capabilities, according to Navis statement.
The container terminal Botlek, which handles 17,500TEU and break-bulk cargo annually, was previously running its container operation via applications that had decreased efficiency and delayed processes with extra administrative tasks.
In April, the terminal went live with the terminal operating software for both break-bulk and container cargo ports, Master Terminal, in a seamless operation, according to Navis, which performed the implementation and subsequent training remotely for 14 weeks, which allowed the project to continue as Covid-19 protocols fluctuated in the Netherlands.
“Automation and integration were the biggest features of implementation, which has digitised our flow of containers at our terminals,” said product owner at C. Steinweg Terminal Operations, Didier Boot, who added that “we have been able to provide data consistency and standardisation across various terminals with our more efficient operation, and this allows us to be a reliable partner in the shipping industry.”
