Arkas Line adds 500 new reefer containers

Arkas Line is expanding its temperature-controlled transportation capabilities with an investment in 500 new reefer containers

Arkas Line is expanding its temperature-controlled transportation capabilities with an investment in 500 new reefer containers, set to be integrated into the fleet from June 2026. The new units will be deployed across the carrier’s full service network, spanning the Mediterranean, Black Sea, West and North Africa, the East Coast of the Americas and India.

The containers, manufactured at CIMC’s Qingdao facility in China, will not be restricted to any single trade lane, instead supporting the transportation of temperature-sensitive cargo — including food, agricultural products and medical goods — across Arkas Line’s entire operational footprint.

The new units are equipped with Daikin Zestia refrigeration systems, which offer high cooling performance, precise temperature control and energy efficiency. The equipment is also compatible with R1234yf, a next-generation refrigerant gas with a lower environmental impact, aligning the investment with the carrier’s broader sustainability goals.

The expansion is described by Arkas Line as a strategically significant step, given the demanding nature of temperature-controlled logistics in terms of cargo safety, operational efficiency and market access. Beyond fleet growth, the company says the investment reflects its ongoing commitment to more flexible, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible solutions for its customers.

With the addition of the 500 units, Arkas Line aims to strengthen the reliability of its international supply chain offer and reinforce its position in the growing reefer segment across its key trade regions.
