APSEZ scale AI-driven terminal operations across 15 ports

APSEZ has expanded its partnership with Kaleris to deploy digital and AI-enabled capabilities across its container terminal network.

Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone has expanded its strategic partnership with Kaleris to deploy advanced digital and AI-enabled capabilities across its container terminal network, supporting the company’s 2030 objectives, which include an US$ 850 million outlay toward decarbonisation and technology upgrades alongside a target of handling one billion tonnes of cargo annually.

Under the multi-year agreement, Kaleris will deploy its foundational terminal operating system alongside AI-augmented container handling and optimisation solutions across 15 APSEZ container terminals spanning nine domestic and international ports.

The expansion builds on an initial Phase 1 deployment across six ports, scaling advanced planning, optimisation and automation capabilities to create a unified digital backbone across APSEZ’s maritime and logistics network.

The deployment of Kaleris’s Advanced Optimization solution is expected to deliver measurable efficiency improvements, including up to a 20 percent improvement in rubber-tyred gantry crane productivity and up to 14% improvement in terminal truck productivity.

The rollout will also extend Kaleris’s N4 Terminal Operating System across the network, improving yard utilisation, accelerating vessel turnaround, enhancing planning accuracy and delivering more predictable cargo movement for customers.

Ashwani Gupta, CEO of APSEZ, described AI-enabled automation as the next frontier of competitiveness in ports and logistics, noting that the Kaleris integration will build on APSEZ’s existing end-to-end digital platform to further improve productivity, turnaround times and customer experience.

Kirk Knauff, President and CEO of Kaleris, characterised the expansion as evidence of the tangible results already achieved through the partnership, with the company’s measurement of success centred on customer outcomes now set to be amplified across APSEZ’s full terminal network as the company advances toward its long-term capacity and sustainability targets.
