Fabio Brocca, recently appointed Chief Product Officer at Xeneta, faces the challenge of leveraging data and technology to revolutionize the buying and selling of ocean and air freight worldwide.
With his experience as head of Product for Global Transportation Technology at Amazon, where he played a pivotal role in scaling one of the world’s largest transportation networks, Brocca is well-positioned to lead this global transformation.
“Amazon showed me the importance of working backwards from the customer and how a best-in-class tech company is run. When you are transforming an industry, you must think long-term. What we think is needed today may not be what’s needed tomorrow, so it is a continuous pursuit of innovation. There is a beautiful quote from Jeff Bezos where he says, ‘We are stubborn on vision, we are flexible on details,” said Fabio Brocca.
In his new role, Brocca will focus on advancing Xeneta’s platform, which currently utilizes over 400 million crowdsourced data points on ocean and air freight rates to introduce transparency to a traditionally opaque market.
Drawing from his background as director of Business Transformation at MSC, the world’s largest container shipping company, Brocca brings firsthand experience to address the challenges Xeneta aims to solve.
Brocca added, “I have witnessed first-hand businesses across the freight industry with slow and inefficient processes, tendering departments working overtime every day for three months and still taking weeks to close a tender – then doing this again and again over multiple rounds. There is a lack of visibility in the market on how much businesses should be paying for ocean and air freight.”
Furthermore, Brocca anticipates that Xeneta’s forthcoming platform upgrade, scheduled for launch in 2024, will address current and future challenges faced by customers. Previews of the upgraded platform will be unveiled at the TPM24 industry summit in Long Beach, California, in just 10 days.
In the last year, Xeneta has seen the appointment of Tonia Luykx as Chief Revenue Officer and Hugo Grimston as Chief Finance Officer, with CEO Patrik Berglund expressing his confidence in these additions, stating that he believes he has discovered exceptional talent.
