Companies participating in the Ecoport II group, led by Valenciaport, have delivered measurable environmental improvements across the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia during 2025, surpassing the voluntary targets set at the beginning of the year across multiple categories.
The group comprises 38 companies from the port community committed to improving environmental performance beyond the requirements of their individual environmental management systems.
Fuel consumption reduction was among the most notable achievements. Eleven companies committed to a 1 percent reduction target but achieved an average reduction of 5.6% per company, representing a combined saving of approximately 6.3 million litres.
Six of those eleven companies simultaneously achieved an average electricity consumption reduction of 5%.
Water conservation also exceeded expectations. Of the eleven companies that committed to reducing water use by 1%, eight achieved an average reduction of approximately 29.2%, equivalent to 76,550 litres saved across the group.
Ten companies committed to measuring their carbon footprint, with 80% successfully completing that assessment. A further 16 companies met the target of participating in environmental initiatives.
Alongside consumption reduction, participating companies advanced the adoption of alternative energy sources during the year, including solar panels, photovoltaic installations and the use of hydrotreated vegetable oil as a fuel substitute.
The group collectively set nine voluntary environmental objectives for 2025, and the results across each category demonstrate both qualitative and quantitative progress in the environmental performance of the three ports managed by the Valencia Port Authority.
