Neptune Pacific has warned of continued disruptions to its Asia-Pacific services after a series of tropical cyclones affected ports and vessel schedules across China and wider Asia.
The carrier said five tropical cyclones — Maysak, Bavi, Noul, Dolphin and Saudel — have affected China in recent months. The storms have contributed to periodic port closures and significant schedule delays.
The disruption is now resulting in further port omissions on services connecting Asia with the South Pacific.
Three vessels to omit Asian ports
Neptune Pacific said its partner service carrier has confirmed several port omissions for September.
OOCL Busan voyage 0707S will omit Shanghai and Kaohsiung, while SC Montreux voyage 0478S will skip Ningbo.
Meanwhile, Kota Lestari voyage 0286S will omit Shanghai.
Cargo backlog and capacity pressure continue
Neptune Pacific warned that the latest changes will add to an existing cargo backlog and capacity constraints.
The company had previously advised customers of severe weather-related disruptions on 24 July.
New ASIAPAC bookings will be allocated to the earliest available vessel voyage, subject to available space.
Neptune Pacific said it will continue to monitor conditions and update its schedules as new information becomes available.
