Saudi Global Ports launches Kingdom’s first dedicated multipurpose terminal TOS

Saudi Global Ports (SGP) has launched what it describes as Saudi Arabia’s first dedicated Terminal Operating System (TOS) for multipurpose terminals at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam.

The new system has initially been deployed at SGP’s multipurpose terminal operations at the port and is expected to be gradually introduced across the company’s other multipurpose terminals in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

According to the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), the platform is designed to provide real-time operational data and improve the management of different cargo types handled at multipurpose terminals.

New system targets cargo flow and equipment efficiency

The TOS supports cargo planning and movement while helping terminal operators allocate equipment and resources according to operational requirements.

It is also designed to identify potential delays at an earlier stage and reduce reliance on manual processes.

Unlike systems primarily designed around container terminal operations, the new platform has been developed to support the more diverse requirements of multipurpose terminals, where different cargo types and handling processes must be managed within the same facility.

The implementation at King Abdulaziz Port will serve as the starting point for a wider rollout across SGP’s multipurpose terminal network in the Eastern Province.

SGP said the deployment forms part of its broader efforts to increase the use of digital systems across terminal operations.

SGP expands operations in Dammam

The technology deployment comes as Saudi Global Ports continues to expand its presence at King Abdulaziz Port.

SGP operates container terminals at the Dammam port and has also been expanding its multipurpose cargo and logistics activities.

In November 2025, the company broke ground on a major expansion of Container Terminal 2 and unveiled plans for the Dammam Integrated Logistics Zone.

The latest TOS deployment adds a digitalisation component to SGP’s wider investment programme as Saudi Arabia continues to develop the capacity and efficiency of its port and logistics infrastructure.
