Rhenus has announced an €11 million investment to modernise its logistics terminal in Andijan, Uzbekistan, strengthening the country’s role as a logistics hub along the Trans-Caspian Transport Route.

The announcement coincided with the state visit of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Uzbekistan, highlighting growing economic cooperation between the two countries.

The project will transform the existing facility into a modern road-rail intermodal terminal in three phases. The upgraded site will expand container handling capacity, support rail freight growth and introduce warehouse logistics services.

Once the first phase is complete, the terminal will handle approximately 200,000 TEUs annually. It will also provide storage capacity for 2,000 TEUs and include around 1,140 metres of rail track. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2026.

Rhenus said the project will support export-oriented industries in the Ferghana Valley, including the textile sector, by improving transport efficiency and logistics capacity.

The terminal is being developed through UzContargo Andijon, a joint venture between Rhenus, Uzbekiston Temir Yollari and its subsidiary UzTemirYulKonteyner, established in January 2025.
