The Port of Koper in Slovenia has closed 2021 with an annual container throughput record, by handling 997,477 TEU, which also translates to an increase of 6% over the previous year.
“In 2021, there was a gradual recovery of the global economy and a strengthening of economic activity in the international context, which affected business results of the Luka Koper,” explained the European port in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Port of Koper’s total maritime throughput reached 20,8 million tons, reflecting a rise of 7% compared to 2020, “despite the aggravated business environment and the pandemic.”
During the same period, there was also an increase in conventional shipments on the general cargo segment and a downturn in container stuffing and unstuffing (CFS), according to the port.
