Port of Aarhus posts record results and container volumes in 2025

Port of Aarhus

The Port of Aarhus delivered one of the strongest financial results in its 180-year history in 2025, driven by record container volumes and strong market demand.

Revenue reached DKK 406 million, up 8% year-on-year. EBIT surged to DKK 118 million, more than tripling compared to 2024.

Container throughput hit a new national record. The port handled 843,665 TEU, an increase of nearly 28%. Growth was mainly driven by higher transhipment volumes due to congestion at other European ports.

Total cargo throughput reached 11.34 million tonnes. The port now handles more than 72% of Denmark’s container market.

“We delivered a strong result in a year marked by uncertainty and disruption,” said KÃ¥re Clemmesen, Interim CEO of the Port of Aarhus. “This reflects our ability to adapt quickly and continue developing the business.”

The port also maintained high activity across other segments. Dry bulk reached 2.9 million tonnes, while liquid bulk totaled just over 1 million tonnes. Ro/Ro volumes remained stable, and passenger traffic continued to grow.

Despite increased operations, the port reduced COâ‚‚ emissions from its own activities by 39% compared to 2024. This keeps it on track to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.

“The result shows a competitive and adaptable port with a strong foundation,” said Susanne Juhl, Chair of the Board. “We will continue investing in infrastructure, safety and the green transition.”

The Port of Aarhus said it will focus on further strengthening capacity and sustainability to support long-term growth in an increasingly uncertain global environment.
