Pacific International Lines (PIL) and PSA International have launched Singapore’s first joint land-sea green value-added service for cargo transshipped through the Port of Singapore. DNV supports the initiative.
The service helps shippers and cargo owners reduce Scope 3 emissions. It does this through verified carbon reductions from lower-carbon fuels across shipping, port operations, and landside logistics.
Trials will start in May 2026.
The project builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2025 between PIL, PSA, and DNV. The agreement focuses on improving carbon emissions measurement and reporting in maritime transport.
PIL uses vessel deployment, fuel selection, and voyage planning to generate emissions reductions within its shipping operations.
PSA applies its port and logistics network to reduce emissions across terminals and inland transport. It helps create a lower-carbon end-to-end supply chain.
DNV provides digital systems for standardised data flow. It also delivers independent verification of emissions data to ensure accuracy and transparency.
The service gives shippers a clear and verifiable way to manage Scope 3 emissions across the full logistics chain. It supports wider decarbonisation of global supply chains through integrated shipping and port operations.
PIL Chief Commercial Officer Lionel Patrice Chatelet said PIL uses carbon insetting to reduce emissions within its own value chain. He said the company invests in initiatives that deliver measurable emissions cuts and support lower-carbon shipping for customers.
PSA Group Head of Operations, Technology and Sustainability Eddy Ng said PSA works with partners to enable efficient and sustainable trade flows. He said the collaboration supports maritime decarbonisation and strengthens Singapore’s role as a hub for sustainable shipping and energy solutions.
DNV Veracity Executive Director Mikkel Skou said the initiative shows how trusted, standardised data can improve transparency. He said connected systems allow emissions reductions to be measured and shared with confidence, helping the industry move from targets to measurable impact.
