ONE vessel launches new Savannah-India connection

ONE Modern, the inaugural ship on Ocean Network Express’ West India North America (WIN) service, docked at the Port of Savannah on 18 June, creating a new link between India and Georgia Ports.

“This new offering from ONE is a recognition of India’s growing role as a manufacturing hub. As the world’s most populous country, with a growing consumer class and significant infrastructure investment, India represents a remarkable opportunity for trade via Savannah,” stated Griff Lynch, CEO and president of Georgia Ports Authority.

According to Lynch, shipping from India to the US East Coast is more efficient compared to routes to the US West Coast.

Despite current vessel detours around Africa, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) can reach inland markets across the Southeast and Midwest U.S. three to five days faster than West Coast ports.

“The WIN Service offers our valued customers a weekly routing from Nhava Sheva and Mundra to the U.S. East Coast. This new service to the Port of Savannah demonstrates ONE’s commitment to this important and growing market, providing reliability and flexibility to our customers,” commented Dan Sheehy, ONE Senior vice president of product & Network.

The WIN service offers a weekly route from Bin Qasim, Hazira, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra to New York and Savannah.

The introduction of the WIN service by ONE increases the Georgia Ports Authority’s direct weekly India services to four, with a total of eight services connecting Savannah to the Indian Subcontinent. This service is facilitated by a fleet of nine vessels, all operated by ONE.
