Cavotec secures shore power order for Southern California cruise terminal

Cavotec has secured an order worth approximately €1.5 million to supply shore power equipment for the expansion of a cruise terminal in Southern California.

The shore power systems will allow cruise ships to connect to the local electricity grid while alongside. This will reduce emissions and noise by eliminating the need to run onboard engines during port stays.

The contract includes Cavotec’s PowerMove, PowerFeed and PowerCover shore power technologies.

The company expects to deliver the equipment during the third quarter of 2027.

“This order demonstrates both the strong confidence that customers have in our shore power technology and our ability to support large marine infrastructure projects,” said David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec.

“We have delivered shore power systems to this customer before and are excited to be part of the next phase of the cruise terminal development,” he added.

Cavotec continues to expand its presence in the shore power market as ports invest in technologies that help reduce emissions and support more sustainable maritime operations.
