MSC vessel sinks pilot boat at Gioia Tauro

A MSC container vessel struck a pilot boat (according to initial reports), while manoeuvring in the harbour on 18 January. The pilot boat sank after the collision with the container vessel, but quick reactions at the port allowed a crane to recover the boat immediately and placed it on pier. It is important to say that it is not certain if it was a pilot boat or a mooring boat.

As three vessels of the Swiss company were at the Italian port on the day, it is not clear which vessel was involved, but available information point at MSC Adelaide, Maritime Bulletin reports.
