The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has surpassed 800,000 TEU in February, marking a slight increase of 1.36% compared to the same month last year, while the transshipment sector gained 3.41% with volumes exceeding 420,000 containers.
At the same time, Mawani has recorded a remarkable rise in general cargo volumes during February 2022, logging in excess of 24.4 million tons at a year-on-year growth rate of 17.5%.
The same period saw more than 70,000 cars being imported, up by 37.76% from 2021.
Mawani said that its strong results will assist in the transformation of the maritime sector into a prosperous and sustainable ecosystem according to its developmental mandate, thus fulfilling the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and Vision 2030 to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub and realise the nation’s socio-economic ambitions.
