
Maersk will implement a Peak Season Surcharge on shipments from Europe to South Africa, excluding Mozambique.
The surcharge will take effect on 15 October 2026 and remain applicable until further notice. Maersk attributed the measure to strong demand and limited capacity.
The published tariff levels are:

Maersk’s notice did not specify the currency of the published amounts.
The surcharge covers dry, high-cube dry, bulk, collapsible flat rack, flat rack, hive, pallet-wide, open-top, tank and twin-deck equipment.
The North European scope covers Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Czechia, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Sweden.
The Mediterranean scope includes Southern and Southeastern Europe, North Africa, the Eastern Mediterranean, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
The surcharge will not apply to Maersk SPOT bookings. For non-SPOT shipments, the applicable rate will depend on the Price Calculation Date.
