Maersk has announced the launch of a new warehouse and distribution facility in Côte d’Ivoire. The new facility is located in Abidjan, the largest city of the African country, and is expected to address the needs of customers and trade growth within this market through its solutions.
Maersk has chosen a location outside of the city for its new storage, deconsolidation, and distribution multipurpose facility, around the industrial zone, with easy access to the port with options to bypass the city’s traffic congestion.
The Ivory Coast multipurpose warehouse occupies 5,000m2 with a total capacity of approximately 3,900 pallet locations. Additionally, there is ample truck yard space for fast vehicle turn around. The new non-bonded warehouse also has four docks and will store non-hazardous cargo in ambient temperature.
The new fully Maersk-operated facility is equipped to support various industries from retail, fast moving consumer goods and technology.
“Maersk has a strong presence in the West Africa market, and we are continuously reviewing our value proposition to ensure we offer competitive end-to-end solutions,” said Thomas Theeuwes, Maersk Central West Africa managing director.
