Maersk E-Commerce Logistics targets US market

Following Maersk’s series of acquisitions to incorporate e-commerce capabilities into the company’s business model in 2021, Maersk E-Commerce Logistics business unit is now targeting the US e-commerce market.

“Our fulfilment network is designed to bring B2C expertise and scale to Maersk customers with direct-to-consumer fulfilment, parcel delivery and supply chain visibility in an end-to-end offering,” stated Casey Adams, head of Maersk E-Commerce Logistics in North America.

Maersk’s e-commerce footprint has been recently expanded with the acquisitions of Visible Supply Chain Management in the United States, two e-commerce companies in Europe, B2C Europe and HUUB, and LF Logistics in Asia.

Maersk operates a network of nine e-fulfilment centres that can deliver to 75% of the US population within 24 hours and 95% within 48 hours, as per the company’s figures.

The Maersk E-Commerce Logistics platform encompasses an end-to-end management tool from source to the final destination, including shipments, inventory, parcel spending, order pipeline and invoicing.

Sustainable landside transportation solutions are also projected to be added in the US with the recent announcement of an order for 300 electrical trucks.

The Maersk E-Commerce Logistics business unit is complemented by Maersk’s North America integrated landside logistics supply chain, business model.
