LX Pantos has opened a new technology laboratory at its MegaWise Cheongna Logistics Center in Incheon, South Korea, as the company expands its use of robotics and artificial intelligence in warehouse operations.

The facility, known as the Technology-Driven Logistics (TDL) Lab, will test automation technologies and assess how they can be integrated into daily logistics activities. The initiative focuses on improving warehouse processes, reducing manual work and developing more automated logistics centers.

The project is part of LX Pantos’ wider strategy to strengthen its contract logistics business through robotics and AI.

Seven technology partners support the initiative

LX Pantos has established partnerships with seven technology companies to develop and test logistics automation solutions. The initiative began in April 2026, with the company signing memoranda of understanding with LG CNS, Hai Robotics, Libiao Robotics, XYZ Robotics, SUM, Twinny and Deepfine.

The partnerships cover several areas of warehouse operations, including automated storage, order picking, parcel sorting and cargo handling.

LG CNS will focus on integrated warehouse automation, while Hai Robotics and Libiao Robotics will contribute storage, picking and sorting technologies.

XYZ Robotics will work on robotic solutions for container loading and unloading, alongside pallet handling. Other partners will support autonomous cargo transport, mobile robotics and vision-based inspection systems.

The laboratory will allow LX Pantos to evaluate these technologies before introducing them into its wider logistics operations.

Plans for more automated logistics centers

LX Pantos has identified five technology areas for its long-term development: mobile robots, robotic arms, next-generation mobility, artificial intelligence and digital twins.

The company plans to introduce these technologies through a three-stage process. Its initial focus will be on facilities where employees and robots work together, followed by fully unmanned operations and eventually more advanced intelligent logistics centers.

“TDL goes beyond simply installing automation equipment,” said Auh Jae-hyuck, Executive Vice President and Head of the Contract Logistics Business Unit at LX Pantos.

The company has not announced a timetable for completing the transition or disclosed the investment associated with the laboratory.
