Lufthansa Cargo expands winter network and shifts operations to Navi Mumbai

Lufthansa Cargo has announced changes to its winter 2026/2027 flight schedule, expanding freighter connections across Asia-Pacific and North America while relocating its Mumbai freighter operations to Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMI).

The move to Navi Mumbai took effect on 12 October, transferring freighter operations from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). According to the company, the relocation is linked to infrastructure improvements and plans to increase airport capacity and efficiency.

The new winter schedule, which begins on 25 October, will offer 88 freighter routes serving 40 destinations worldwide.

Expanded connections across Asia and North America

Lufthansa Cargo will offer up to 46 weekly freighter rotations to 17 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. The expanded network includes Singapore as an additional stop on the existing Frankfurt–Taipei rotation, creating new opportunities for cargo movements within Asia.

The carrier will also maintain its increased Trans-Pacific frequency on the Frankfurt–Ho Chi Minh City–Shanghai–Los Angeles route, operating two days per week. Additional services from Frankfurt to Taipei and Chengdu will continue three times weekly, while connections between Almaty and Frankfurt will resume.

In North America, Lufthansa Cargo will increase weekly freighter services to New York JFK to five, Dallas/Fort Worth to four and Houston to three. Its South American network will remain unchanged, with four weekly connections serving four destinations.

Additional capacity through Lufthansa Group network

Within Europe, Lufthansa Cargo will permanently include Larnaca, Istanbul and Stavanger in its regular flight schedule, using Boeing 777 freighters. The routes were previously operated on a short-term basis.

The company is also expanding cargo options through Lufthansa Group passenger services. Lufthansa Airlines will introduce five weekly flights to Kuala Lumpur, while ITA Airways will add two weekly services to Santo Domingo from November.

Meanwhile, SWISS WorldCargo will add Bangalore to its network through Zurich, providing another European connection for cargo customers in southern India.

Lufthansa Cargo said its wider network will continue to offer access to approximately 7,500 flights serving 350 destinations through six European hubs.

The carrier also confirmed that destinations previously served by its A321 freighters will remain accessible through long-haul freighter services or the Lufthansa Group passenger network until a new operator is found for the four aircraft.
