
Kuehne+Nagel will use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to reduce emissions from Google Cloud’s air freight shipments in 2026.
The agreement covers the purchase of up to 5.2 million litres of SAF and is expected to reduce up to 12,600 tonnes of COâ‚‚e emissions from Google Cloud’s infrastructure shipments.
The collaboration serves as a pilot for future sustainability initiatives between the two companies.
SAF is produced from renewable waste and residue materials, including used cooking oil and tallow. It can reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by around 80% compared with conventional jet fuel.
The agreement also supports Kuehne+Nagel’s SAF certification programme, which helps customers reduce Scope 3 emissions while increasing demand for sustainable aviation fuel.
Brian Stewart, Senior Director of Logistics at Google Cloud, said the partnership supports the company’s wider sustainability strategy.
