Kongsberg Maritime secures deck machinery contract

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a substantial contract by a major energy operator to deliver advanced deck machinery.

Kongsberg Maritime has been awarded a substantial contract by a major energy operator to deliver advanced deck machinery for a new Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel for an offshore development in Asia.

Delivery of the equipment is scheduled for mid-2027.

The contract covers a fully integrated mooring and deck machinery solution encompassing chain pull-in winches, chain stoppers, fairleads, riser pull-in winches and associated control and automation systems.

A notable technical feature of the project is the large mooring chain dimension, reflecting the demanding operating conditions of the FPSO and Kongsberg Maritime’s capability to design and supply high-capacity, heavy-duty deck machinery for complex offshore applications.

Under the contract, IP Huse will be responsible for the mechanical design of the deck machinery, with manufacturing carried out at IP Huse’s facilities on Harøy in Norway.

Kongsberg Maritime will deliver the automation and control systems alongside overall project management, ensuring close integration between engineering, production and delivery.

The award represents a repeat order from the same customer, following an earlier Kongsberg Maritime contract for another FPSO development, further strengthening the established relationship between the two companies.

Marte Tyldum, Senior Vice President at Kongsberg Maritime Handling, described the project as a demonstration of the company’s ability to deliver robust deck machinery solutions for complex offshore applications, combining strong engineering competence with reliable automation and control systems.
