Hutchison Ports Sohar has signed an agreement with ZPMC

Hutchison Ports Sohar has signed an agreement with ZPMC in Shanghai to purchase 12 Automated electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (AeRTGCs).

The company expects delivery of the cranes in the second quarter of 2027.

The investment forms part of Hutchison Ports Sohar’s sustainability strategy and ongoing efforts to modernize terminal operations.

The new cranes will reduce the environmental impact of port activities by supporting cleaner and more energy-efficient cargo handling operations.

Hutchison Ports Sohar also expects the equipment to improve operational efficiency and strengthen automation across the terminal.

The company said the project reinforces its position as a smart port focused on sustainable growth and environmental responsibility.

The addition of 12 automated electric cranes marks another step in the port’s commitment to reducing emissions while supporting future cargo growth.
